Los Chorritos de Valeria in Peinate Anthology

Let’s take a trip down memory lane to a significant milestone in my writing journey. I can’t help but feel a sense of honor as I reflect on the time when my first mini-fiction story, “Los Chorritos de Valeria,” was published in the captivating anthology, Peinate- Hair Battles Between Latina Mothers & Daughters. 📚

This extraordinary book brings together a collection of stories, poems, and essays that delve into fights, acceptance, insecurities, and identity, all within the context of those cherished familial bonds.

The inspiration for my short fiction piece stems from the strong influence of my Latina mother and my formative years growing up in the vibrant atmosphere of the nitty-gritty upper west side. It was during those early days, at just five years of age, that I learned the invaluable lesson of self-love and acceptance, especially embracing my beautiful curls. Let’s celebrate the power of storytelling, the strength within our diverse experiences, and the beauty of embracing our authentic selves. 📖💪✨
