The Desert Sphinx

Poem by Gaudys Laxury

desert-sphinxWalking in the middle of the Sahara desert, without sight on the horizon. Drinking but only the drips are seen upon layers and layers of silky sweat. Thinking of where to go and which direction to take, but still walking in this lonely desert. The sun, so hot and humid hits the skin like a nice summer day in the lovely Jones beach but takes away the ocean, the sand, and the people at hand. Wondering which path to take, which road to follow—as if there is anything left to swallow? Run, run!! Nowhere to hide, in this lonely desert, but only your thoughts and dreams and wishes will lead the path. A stroll, a leap, a skip…a jump…but move forward as your mind is the companion in this riddle; the lovely riddle of the desert Sphinx.
